Welcome to Loving Heart Animal Shelter

About Us

The Loving Heart Animal Shelter is a private, independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of community members who are dedicated to animal welfare. We are funded primarily through private donations and service revenue. Not controlled or funded by any statewide or national organization, donations made to national animal welfare groups do not benefit our local pets. We are based in Lafayette, Indiana.

Loving Heart Animal Shelter is a no-kill animal shelter and adoption organization. Our shelter strives to create an environment that enhances awareness of the humane treatment of animals. The mission of Loving Heart Animal Shelter is to rescue healthy and treatable dogs and cats. This shall include but is not limited to the following: animals who are sick, injured, abused, found stray, and relinquished by their owners. We will nurture and restore them to happy, healthy lives in loving, permanent homes.

Mutt of the Month

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live without family? Yoshi knows it all too well. Entering the shelter system in the fall of 2017, Yoshi has spent the past year and a half searching and searching for a place to call home. A place he can stay – for good.

A loner Yoshi is not. This boy thrives on kisses and cuddles. And while he prefers to keep his distance from other canines, he has a great way with the ladies. Have we also mentioned that Yoshi is 99% housetrained AND already knows both sit and shake? What a smart boy!

Yoshi MUST have a home with a fenced-in yard and no other dogs. If you meet these requirements and think Yoshi may be a good fit for you, apply to adopt him here: https://form.jotform.com/83498116900157.

Meow of the Month

Aggie is certainly a beautiful girl. Around two years of age, she arrived in our care when her owner could no longer keep her. Aggie enjoys receiving attention from people, but other times she prefers having her own space.

Will you provide Aggie with a home? Apply to adopt her here:
